Edmonton 3-1 against Columbus

To kick things off on here, I thought I’d start with some hockey.  It’s been a long, long time since I’ve seen a game but I still try to keep up with what’s going on.

It’s funny but when I lived in Canada, I didn’t quite appreciate what hockey brought to Canada.  Now that I’m living abroad, I can see it for what it truly is.  A kick ass, monumentally hard as rock game that requires a player to have the highest level of fitness, strength and agility that no normal human being could ever attain.  These guys are truly talented and bring Canada a lot of kudo’s for producing some of the best players in the world.  Wayne Gretzky is still celebrated as one of the best players to grace the ice ever and he was born in Ontario.  His best years in hockey were in Alberta playing for the Oilers.

Of all the hockey teams out there, my favourite is the Edmonton Oilers.  On monday they won a game 3 to 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Sadly, I didn’t see the game.  With the time difference, any games being played come on over here at about 3 in the morning.  A little bit too late for me I’m afraid.  Also, they aren’t doing too well in the standings.  I have faith though and I’m hanging in there until the end.  Stanley Cup playoffs aren’t until April so they have plenty of time to show the rest of the NHL that they are, indeed, a force to be reckoned with.
